About the Neighborhood: Tokyo Tower area

This area is one of central Tokyo's most upscale, sophisticated neighborhoods.

It has the rare combination of true central-Tokyo access with a calm, almost village-like atmosphere.
Embassies, long-time local families, and international residents share the same streets, giving the area a warm and unmistakably worldly character.

The heart of the neighborhood is the Azabu-Juban Shopping Street (麻布十番商店街), a 300-year-old shotengai where you can buy fish-shaped taiyaki from Naniwaya (in business since 1909), browse Mamegen for over 60 varieties of traditional rice crackers, and find everything from a third-generation tofu maker to award-winning ramen and Michelin-listet. Nissin World Delicatessen, a much-loved international supermarket, is around the corner if you need familiar ingredients from home.

Families especially love this area for its safety, walkability, and pace. The streets are wide enough for strollers, the lighting is good in the evening, and there are parks, kid-friendly cafés, and a 100-year-old neighborhood onsen (Takenoyu) all within reach.
